Am I my father's son?

Is this one of the most worrisome issues of family relationships...
How do fathers and sons relate on the issue of dominance? Especially as issues in life compound an already complex relationship.

Am i less of a man simply because i still live with my family and don't have a source of livelyhood?

I guess that's why alot of young folks have that "I want my independence from the family" mentality...
There are times when I could swear that i dislike my folks... even worse than i hate myself...

All the hate and bile is finally getting to me ...
But i guess the saying: that's life comes to mind as easily - what else can someone say at this juncture of his life...

I feel extremely revenge oriented and by God, I will get my pound of flesh - in this life time or the next...

On to other matters before the bile I feel eats me alive...

Today is nigeria's democracy day... What ever context you decide to take this information is really your problem... For me its no different from any other day in the life of a man looking for a way to create a means of sustainance...

As I love to quote - life's a "beach"... (fish, water, sand and coconuts)

As if you don't know...
The game plan for the average young person revolves around money - making it and of course, spending it... It is a generally accepted and widely held opinion that spending is so much easier than earning...

I went to one of those places that have the brand of shopping mall found abroad, located somewhere in Lekki - (the Palms, Game, Shoprite) and by God, it was one of those moments in your life when you realise that it doesn't pay you to be poor - whether in spirit or physically!

It was one of those places that makes Nigerians behave like polite society - I thought I was in LaLa land! A guy who was shopping bumped into us and was all apologies - that alone threw me for a loop and a curve!

Then, talk of the choice of Goods on display... My guy, the sight went to show me that Nigerians sabi good thing - na say crayfish don bend...

Anyway - I feel positive that if we find more people with the courage to invest in things like that - this country will most definitely be moving forward!

On a lighter note: it will get better!

The business environment - A Nigerian's perspective

In all honesty - it's not that bad (that's the good news)

The bad news - depends on your point of view.
Nigeria is not actually a paradise for doing buiness, except when you've learnt to Maneuver in her shark infested waters of danger, deceit, fraud and the plain unexpected.

There are so many untapped opportunities in different sectors - agriculture, telecoms, IT, trading, real estate, banking, insurance, manufacturing etc

At least the recent recapitalisation execise in the banking sector will see that loans and other financial aid packages to businesses (small, medium and large) will become available at negotiable interest rates that will benefits both sides.
Of course, it will take some time for the loan fad to catch on - this is as a result of the various financial mismanagement practises in many banks and the presense of many bad loans and debts that are still uncleared and will likely remain that way.

The recent policies that provide support for SMEES should be applauded but at this time there has been no take off. Banks do afterall have to be cautious.

So what can a entrepreneur look forward to while doing business in Nigeria?
Depending on his area of business and the demand for his brand of goods or services - there are many possibilities.
Most banks shy away from alot of these projects because of many issues, which include some of the following:

1. Credit worthiness
2. Collateral
3. Guarantors
4. Experience
5. A business model and plan

As in almost all cases the issue of financing is a real thorn. There are as of yet no venture capitalists or angel investors that are operating in nigeria.

Plus the issue of the advanced fee fraud (popularly referred to as 419).

Inspite of the lsit of negatives, I'm still very hopeful beacuse there's no other way to go. As a die hard entrepreneur, I'm commited to making it the honest way...

How I plan do that? That's for me to know anf for you to find out!
